Presentation
Building a Metadata Backbone for EA Within an Enterprise Architecture function, several complex bodies of knowledge have to be brought together. Knowledge structured and managed within an EA repository tool, an EA management process and according to a particular framework must be reconciled. Whilst important and complementary, these knowledgebases conflict at a detailed level causing unnecessary work, at best, and totally undermining EA as a discipline, at worst. Knowledge must also be managed in conjunction with other disciplines e.g. Business Strategy, Compliance and IT development - all of which have their own methods and implied structures. This presentation explains how cohesive knowledge management is achieved through a common metamodel backbone, which is mapped to each separate area of knowledge, and used to control consistency between them.
