Presentation
Architecting with Competing Paradigms IT-landscapes, especially those implemented in large scale corporations, usually have grown over time and have faced various architecture paradigm shifts during their history. A mixture of event-, application-integration-, workflow- and more recently service-oriented approaches have been adopted and have left their footprints on the landscape. Furthermore, all paradigms more than often compete and/or try to succeed each other, rather than be combined for the sake of task. Detecon's experience shows that different architecture paradigms can be successfully combined during the evolution of an enterprise architecture, and that the true spirit of service-orientation is to be the catalyser to all of them. Either for their successful subsequent management or for their final evolution into the SOA world. We give an insight in our experience and findings in this area and the concepts that we apply to deal with the complexity resulting from the paradigm combination.
