Paolo Roveri is Director of IT Solutions with Business Integration Partners a leading management consulting company in Italy, where he leads the IT Consulting practice. He has responsibility for assignments on IT Governance and Enterprise Architecture initiatives. Formerly to join BIP he was a senior manager with Deloitte Consulting in Italy holding responsibility for IT Consulting for Telco clients.

Paolo is also Associate Professor of Digital Services at the Engineering Faculty of the University of Pavia, Italy.

Architecture Governance for the innovative CIO
The paper illustrates a set of best practices used by successful IT managers to manage IT enabled business innovation with a focus on enterprise architecture. In IT intensive business a key point is to build innovative IT solutions for business innovation sometimes without formal requirements. Based on a panel of the largest and most innovative corporations in Telecommunications, Energy, Utilities and Media in Italy we sketch out some best practices. We also discuss how a TOGAF based approach to enterprise architecture can be part of a framework of IT management for companies with an aggressive IT strategy.
