OASIS & ebXML: The Building Blocks for eBusiness Web Services

Web Services has become a very hot topic this year, with
many companies announcing new strategies and products called by that name,
which is really just a term to describe many of the things that they've
already been doing on the internet for quite some time. Web Services can
be simple, single, context-free communications, or complex, bi-directional,
collaborative transactions, and are the foundation for all things related
to enterprise-class e-commerce. OASIS sponsors a large number of technical
activities related to Web Services, including the ebXML project and other
security and e-commerce related work.
