TOGAF for Transformation at Deutsche Telekom AG – a five year success story

Faced with the tremendous changes in business and technology environment, Deutsche Telekom decided in 2006 for a wide-range business transformation initiative using Enterprise Architecture Management methodologies. Using the smart introduction strategy that delivers contribution to the transformation initiative constantly while working on the EA fundamentals ensures a high acceptance of this new transformation approach.

TOGAF was used as the underlying framework for the architecture work and the establishment of the group wide EA practice. The development of EA artifacts and deliverables like a binding group-wide
capability map, target architectures for different capabilities and their roadmaps as well as the international rollout of an EA tool implementing group-wide reporting capabilities is a major part of that long-term TOGAF success story. The continuously growing acceptance of the new EA approach was supported by a comprehensive change management initiative with certification of some hundred participants as TOGAF Practitioners as one of the major instruments.
