Jericho Forum Panel Session

Stuart OkinStuart Okin, CEO, Comsec Consulting
Stuart brings over 20 years of experience in system implementation and security. He has recently completed the development of a security strategy for a large UK enterprise, including a series of risk assessments, with associated mitigation activities for their Cloud migration. Before Comsec, Stuart spent 4 years as an Accenture Partner, leading the UK security practice and implementing identity solutions within global enterprises. One of Stuart’s most challenging roles was as the Chief Security Advisor to Microsoft and he was part of a team placing security at the heart of the company. His strength resides in a passion for communication and being able to influence diverse audiences, from the C suite to the technician. Stuart has been responsible for raising the awareness of Information Security and has conducted hundreds of press interviews, including broadcast media, such as BBC, ITV, Channel 4, CNN and Sky News.

John Arnold John Arnold has been with Capgemini since 2000 when he joined as a security architect. Since that time he has architected many types of secure system, and now leads the Security Architecture competency within Capgemini’s Security Consulting Practice in the UK.

Before Capgemini, John worked at Admiral as a security tester and contributed to the ITSEM, an EU security evaluation methodology; at Data Sciences where he developed security engineering tools; and at Ferranti where he played a very small part in the automation of the Cadbury’s Crunchie Bar line.

Ever since joining the IT industry John has been interested in how we describe complex systems. He believes that better descriptive languages can improve communications with stakeholders, reduce cost by enabling automation, and raise the quality of the end product. He contributes regularly to the Jericho Forum which is exploring responses to the business trend towards de-perimeterisation.

In his free time he likes travel, cooking, walking, and programming. He has Macs at home and has given away his Windows PCs.

Dr Guy BunkerDr. Guy Bunker is CTO and Partner at ExecIA LLP, a specialist security and technical strategy consultancy based in the UK, with customers across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Previously Guy worked at Symantec (formerly VERITAS) for more than a decade, where he was Chief Scientist and was responsible for, among other things, Symantec’s Cloud Computing Strategy.

Guy is a spokesperson for The Jericho Forum and an ENISA expert (European Network and Information Security Agency). Guy is a regular presenter at many conferences, including RSA Europe, InfoSec, StorageExpo, Transformational Government, Internet Security Forum, RUSI’s Protecting the Critical National Infrastructure, IAAC, Enterprise Architecture and the Symantec user conference, Vision. He is frequently quoted in the press and on television and radio.

Guy has authored a number of books including, “Data Leaks For Dummies” (Pub. John Wiley and Sons 2009) and “Thinking of Backing Up Data In Your Business… Ask the Smart Questions” (Pub. Smart Questions 2010). His blog ViewFromTheBunker won the Computer Weekly best security blog in 2009.

Guy holds a PhD in Artificial Neural Networks from King’s College London, several patents and is a Chartered Engineer with the IET.

Andrew Yeomans Andrew Yeomans
Andrew Yeomans is Head of Security Engineering - London, New York, Asia - at Commerzbank AG, following their acquisition of Dresdner Kleinwort Investment Bank where he has been working since 1999. He is responsible for the security of both Internet and internal e-commerce systems and networks, including the banks many trading, equities, and foreign exchange applications. Andrew has been on the Management Board of the Jericho Forum since 2005.

Prior to that, Andrew led IBM's European technical sales for Internet security. He has worked with UNIX and Open Source software since 1985 and managed and ran IBM's Scientific and Technical Computing group's UNIX network. Andrew has an MA in Maths and Computer Science from Cambridge University and is a member of the Executive Advisory Board of the ISSA UK chapter and Infosecurity Europe Advisory Council.

 

Steve Whitlock Steven T. Whitlock
Steve Whitlock is chief strategist for Boeing IT Information Security. In this role, he provides strategic support for Boeing’s long term information security capabilities. This includes the tracking of emerging technologies and the changing threat landscape, as well as helping to influence the direction of the information security industry in support of Boeing’s global presence.

With more than twenty-five years of research in information security and cryptography, Whitlock has provided strategic input to numerous global agencies, and has served on writing and steering committees for the Intelligence and National Security Association, Internet Security Alliance, Defense Information Base Technology and Architecture Working Group, Trans-global Secure Collaboration Program, and Enduring Security Framework Activity. He has served on the Program Committee for the annual ID Trust conference sponsored by NIST, ACM, OASIS and Internet 2 for eight years.

He currently serves on the Jericho Forum Board of Management and is Vice Chair of the Open Group Security Forum. Steve has a master’s degree in software engineering from Seattle University.
