Using TOGAF to Define and Govern Service Oriented Architectures - A New Technical Guide

This presentation will detail and discuss the about-to-be released Technical Guide:Using TOGAF to Define&  Govern Service Oriented Architectures.  This Technical Guide describes, in detail how an architect might utilize TOGAF if he/she has chosen Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) as the appropriate style of architecture.  It includes aspects specific to SOA on Governance, Reference Architectures, Maturity Assessments as well as a detailed view of the particular enhancements that might be considered as the architect steps through all the Phases of TOGAF.


Ed HarringtonEd Harrington is a consultant and instructor with Architecting the Enterprise, a TOGAF and Enterprise Architecture Consultancy. Prior to this, he was COO of Model Driven Solutions and worked for two UK based companies. Before that, Ed spent 17 years at General Electric.

Ed is past chair and vice-chair of various Open Group Forums.

Dave Hornford

Dave Hornford has over twenty years continuous experience consulting in & about information technology. He is the Architecture Practice Principal for Integritas Solutions Inc., a specialist consulting firm with four practices; Enterprise Architecture, IT Service Management, Project Management, and Quality Assurance and Testing. Most engagements fall into four broad areas: 1) architecture practice development; 2) corporate roadmap development; 3) application architecture and 4) infrastructure architecture.

Dave’s Political Science education highlighted the world always have three lenses for viewing: the way it is, the way we want it to be and the way it is evolving. All of Dave’s work uses the three lenses. When we know where we are, where we are going we can apply the energy necessary to change our course to where we want to be. As a consultant Dave focuses on two key delivery responsibilities in every project – provision of expertise to accelerate the client’s change activity and the transfer of knowledge and skills to the client so they can sustain change activity.
