  David Archer, President & CEO, POSC    
David ArcherDavid Archer is President and CEO of POSC. He is the leader of the consortium with responsibility for its direction, operation and communication with both the POSC Community and the industry at large. Mr. Archer is a well-known industry spokesman – frequently playing the role of organizer, moderator and/or speaker in seminars and conferences.

POSCDavid has had strong interests in collaborative efforts spanning both disciplines and organizations. He has helped pioneer several new technologies for the industry – among these are graphical user interfaces, 3D visualization, XML and Web Services. The two themes of collaboration and new technologies are central to his tenure at POSC.

David is a native Texan – he holds MA and PhD degrees in Mathematical Sciences from Rice University and a BS degree in Mathematics from TCU. Other academic affiliations include past President of the Rice Engineering Alumni, Adjunct Professor Mathematics at the University of Houston and member of the Advisory Board of the College of Technology at UH.

This session, presented by members of the Petrotechnical Open Standards Consortium (POSC) will explore the value of SOA in the context of a particular vertical industry sector, the E&P Sector of the Energy Industry. David Archer, POSC President and CEO, will be the overall session host. After an introduction from him, there will be a series of presentations from industry speakers:
