How does the Open Applications Group Work Complement Web Services?

Web Services are emerging as an exciting and important step in the evolution of application integration. The promise of a common technical layer that is technology independent could dramatically improve customer's interoperability ability dramatically, but Web Services also needs a common business language for applications to speak over this technology independant infrastructure.

The Open Applications Group OAGIS XML focuses exclusively on building a technology neutral, horizontal business language that completes the technologies in Web Services. OAGIS XML is a rich, highly evolved (7+ years) XML Schema-based business language for applications that provides the "Common Current" to complement the common shape of the plugs that the core technologies in Web Services promise.
