Information Super Highway Group
London Agenda

The Open Group meeting in London will be a turning point; with the launch of the eagerly awaited IT DialToneTM initiative. This will be a focal point for the many companies and industries that are separately working to create the Information Super Highway.

Following its initial presentation to the full audience, on Tuesday afternoon the Program Group will have an open debate with the architects of IT DialTone to see how it will influence our role and the work that we do.

Wednesday morning we will focus on ActiveX and Java in a joint session with the Desktop and Security groups to pin down the very real issues of security for applications on the Internet. Wednesday afternoon will be devoted to a discussion on the vision of the future for the Internet; where is it all going and how will it get there. To help us in this, we have invited a visionary speaker to give us their views of the opportunities and problems. The group should be in a position to outline the major features and functions that we can expect from the Internet in the next five years.

In our final session, on Thursday morning, we will set the overall direction for the Program Group and plan for the next three months work. There will be time to discuss the progress made by the existing focus groups and their objectives for the future.
