HP IT's Infrastructure ModernizationJames McKinley, HP IT Architect Manager, Hewlett-Packard CompanyWhen Carly Fiorina became CEO of HP, she drove all of HP on a path to reinvent itself from a fragmented, highly decentralized bunch of organizations to a single company with a single presence. This reinvention effort was engineered to create an agile company with common processes, policies and practices, and decrease the complexity that HP’s customers and business partners faced when trying to conduct business. Maureen Conway, HP Chief Information Officer, articulated that, “IT does not simply support the business, IT is the business.” With these words, HP IT challenged itself to “transform the way business is conducted” and formed the Enterprise Integration Initiative. This initiative was sponsored by Chief Information Officer Pete Karolczak from the Business Customer Organization and was charted to modernize the IT infrastructure required to effectively conduct enterprise application integration.
