Information Technology Standardization - Further Adventures Through the Looking Glass

Over the past 20 or so years, the ICT industry has been standardizing. Like Alice in "Through the Looking Glass", we've had to run very fast just to stay in place. Also like Alice (in Wonderland"), we've had no idea where we were going or why.

This presentation looks at the impact that all of our standardization has had on information intrastructure and asks the question "What is it that the users really wanted?". It doesn't answer the question, but it does suggest several avenues that could be used as a starting place, but this time having an idea of where it is that we might want to go.
