The meeting focused on two specific topics – the Security for the Cloud and SOA project, and Cloud interoperability. It also discussed the proposal to form a new project to address the use of TOGAF for cloud ecosystems.
The session on the Security for the Cloud and SOA project was held jointly with the SOA Work Group, the Security Forum, and the Jericho Forum. It discussed what the project should focus on next, now that its first White Paper – An Architectural View of Security for Cloud – had been published, and explored a particular use-case of identity and access management as a starting point for some future work.
The session on Cloud interoperability was held in response to a request from The Open Group main Board to address this topic. It discussed Cloud interoperability in the context of an overall framework for interoperability that is being developed by the Interoperability project of the Architecture Forum. A summary of the discussion was reported to the Board following the session. The topic will be discussed further by the Cloud Computing Work Group, together with other interested bodies in The Open Group.
The proposal to form a new project to address the use of TOGAF for cloud ecosystems has been the subject of considerable interest within the Cloud Computing Work Group and the Architecture Forum. There is a general consensus that it should proceed, but its precise terms of reference are the subject of some controversy. This session explored the issues, and agreed on a way forward.
The Security for the Cloud and SOA project will meet by teleconference to decide on its next steps in the light of the discussions that took place during the meeting.
The Cloud Computing Work Group will develop a position paper to scope its future work on Cloud Interoperability.
The Cloud Computing Work Group will work on a new charter for the proposed project on the use of TOGAF for Cloud Ecosystems, to address the issues that have been raised.
