Tom Graves has careered around the odder edges of the IT industry for most of the past three decades. In the late 1970s and early 80s he was one of the pioneers of desktop-publishing in Britain; in the late-80s he worked on communications systems and robot trucks in the US; in the 90s, aircraft-testing and e-commerce systems in Australia. Since then his emphasis has been on enterprise-architecture, including strategy and vision, data-architecture, workflow systems and long-term knowledge-management.
A cross-disciplinary generalist by inclination and by training a Masters degree in General Studies from London's Royal College of Art, with postgraduate studies in knowledge-management, organisational complexity and strategic foresight he is an experienced communicator and author, with nine books published in a dozen languages worldwide.
His current aim is to help move enterprise-architecture beyond a narrow focus on IT, and towards an integration of everything the enterprise is and does. |
