Carl BateCarl Bate is Capgemini's UK Chief Technology Officer. Carl is an executive advisor operating across private and public sectors and has acted as Chief Technology Officer for several organisations.

Carl has worked in a senior IT advisory capacity with many organisations including BP, GlaxoSmithKline, Allianz, AXA, M&S, Kingfisher, the UK Criminal Justice System, Home Office and Cabinet Office. Carl has acted as interim CTO for the launch of Kingfisher's DIY Web business and interim CTO for the UK's Criminal Justice System IT Programme – a £2bn programme to 'join-up justice'. Carl is currently advising on UK Government's Transformational Government programme.

Carl facilitates Capgemini's IT Leadership community - a community of ex-CIOs, CTOs and IT Leaders – whose goal is to help CIOs and IT leadership teams connect with others who've personally faced the challenges of IT leadership in business. Carl is also responsible for facilitating Capgemini's innovation activity and technology strategy in the UK. Carl is an active contributor to Capgemini's thought leadership series including Service-Oriented Enterprise.

Prior to becoming UK CTO, Carl led Capgemini’s Technology Consulting Group.

Panel Discussion - What is Web 3.0 - and What are its Implications for the Enterprise Architect?

Carl Bate, VP and Chief Technology Officer for Capgemini UK, will facilitate a panel session in which the speakers in the Web 3.0 stream will discuss what Web 3.0 is - or could be - and why it is of concern to the Practising Architect. The discussion will provide an opportunity to interact with the panel of speakers from the Web 3.0 presentations. To conclude the session, Carl will facilitate a discussion on potential benefits and concerns arising from the topics discussed.
