Mike Gordon is the Business Area Manager for Enterprise Architecture within Lockheed Martin STASYS Limited.  He has over nine years development and consulting experience of business process modelling and enterprise architecture development and its application in Defence and Non Defence markets within the UK and other European nations.

Mike is also leading the implementation of Lockheed Martin's systems engineering OMEGA® Framework in LM STASYS, and is closely involved with the planning and execution of prototyping and technology demonstration in the Swift Laboratory, the company's centre for innovation, which is located at Farnborough.

Before joining LM STASYS, Mike enjoyed a career of 20 years in the British Army where he carried out a variety of command, operational, staff and technical appointments including, Air Defence, Field Artillery, ISTAR, Training, and Research IS environments.

Using Enterprise Architectures To Support Product Prototyping

Developing Information System prototypes can be a complex and risky activity that requires careful planning, development, execution and analysis to ensure an effective outcome.  Enterprise Architectures have an important role to play in supporting the development and analysis of innovative systems prototyping.  This includes the consideration of business process, organizational structures, personnel and technology integration.  A rigorous systems engineering process that has clear goals, objectives and prioritized capabilities will provide critical decision support and risk reduction to the customer.

The application of an Enterprise Architecture Framework within a system of systems engineering approach can provide an end to end, integrated and traceable process to support a prototype development process.  The presentation will explore how the features of the Ministry of Defence Architecture Framework (MODAF) can be used to support a prototyping process.
