Mr. Harrington has more than 30 years varied business experience. Currently, he is responsible for all operational aspects of DAT, a focused Enterprise Architecture Consulting and Software Development company. DAT is a strong promoter of OMG's Model Driven Architecture standards.

Prior to joining DAT, Ed was Vice President of Business Development and Strategy for NEXOR, a UK based developer of high tolerance messaging and directory solutions. Prior to that, he served as director, i500 Americas for ICL the then market leader in X.500 directory solutions. Prior to ICL, Ed spent 17 years at General Electric in various marketing and finance management roles

Mr. Harrington is currently Chair of the OMG-Open Group-IC Joint TOGAF-MDA Synergy Working Group. He is Vice Chair of the Open Group's Architecture Forum as well as a past Chair of its Directory Interoperability Forum and Mobile Management Forum. Mr. Harrington holds a B.A. in Economics from Holy Cross and is a graduate of the GE Financial Management and Manager Development Programs.

Synergizing an Open Methodology and Open Tool Standards: the TOGAF/MDA Synergy Project

For the past two years, The Open Group, the OMG and the Integration Consortium have been working together to demonstrate the synergies that were originally outlined in a joint Open Group/OMG white paper entitled "TOGAF ADM and OMG MDA: the Power of Synergy".  This takes the Open Group TOGAF methodology and develop its outputs/artifacts in OMG standards-based specification.  This effort has made much progress and this session will update the attendees on the progress-to-date.  It will include a view of the modeling efforts underway to formally model TOGAF in OMG standard specifications as well as a Proof-of-Concept that has developed numerous TOGAF described artifacts in OMG standard specifications.

This session will update attendees on the efforts of industry standards bodies and consortia in SOA.  We will cover OASIS, OMG and other organization efforts in the SOA space.  We will also discuss joint industry efforts to ensure open communications between standards bodies and industry consortia
