     SeniorStaff Systems Architect, Lockheed Martin Enterprise Information Systems

Ron Schuldt is a Senior Staff Systems Architect within the Systems Design and Integration - Service Oriented Architecture organization of Lockheed Martin Enterprise Information Systems. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Aerospace Industry Association's Interoperability Standards Working Group and Chairman of The Open Group UDEF Forum.

Since 1987, Ron has been involved in multiple data interchange standards activities and is recognized as a corporate expert on ebusiness data standards. He is involved in Lockheed Martin's effort to establish a corporate-wide Information Architecture Strategy.

Prior to joining Martin Marietta in 1981, he served for nine years as an officer within the United States Air Force.

Ron received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 1972 and a Master of Science in Facilities Management from the Air Force Institute of Technology in 1978.

An Introduction to the UDEF:
This presentation will provide an introduction to the Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) and will address the following topics:

  • The business value the UDEF can offer to enable semantic interoperability
  • A description of what the UDEF is and what it is not
  • The six basic steps for mapping enterprise data to the UDEF
  • The metadata managed architecture that UDEF supports

Applying UDEF Principles to Enterprise Data
Through examples, this presentation will explain the principles to apply when analyzing enterprise data and then mapping the data to the UDEF, building on the six basic steps identified in the Ron’s earlier presentation.
