The Internet and the World-Wide Web have solved the basic problems of information transmission; the next major advance will come from resolving the deeper issues of semantic interoperability. This problem is well understood throughout the world of information technology, from commercial enterprises looking for a new competitive edge, to military organisations looking to gain battlefield superiority.

The Open Group’s Semantic Interoperability Conference will explore the requirements and the technology that is emerging to address them. It will feature a workshop on the Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) and its role as a semantic interoperability enabler.

The Semantic Interoperability conference is part of a week of events from The Open Group that also includes a major conference on Service Oriented Architectures, plus The Open Group Member Meetings.

A full pass (see Fees) covers attendance for the whole week.

  THE CONFERENCE   THE UDEF WORKSHOP

The Semantic Interoperability Conference will include:

  • Case studies showing the value of interoperability at the semantic level, and the problems to be overcome to do so;
  • Presentations on the standards framework for semantic interoperability;
  • Presentations on emerging ontology-management technology.

The Universal Data Element Framework (UDEF) Workshop, included in the conference, will:

  • Explain the concept of the Universal Data Element Framework;
  • Discuss the architecture of UDEF-enabled solutions
  • Demonstrate the application of UDEF to real-world problems.

This is one of a series of conferences from The Open Group on topics related to Boundaryless Information Flow™. Boundaries within and between organisations have become permeable, and information technology must evolve to cater for this permeability. Semantic integration is a key aspect of this. The Open Group conferences are prestigious, high-value events, with plenty of opportunities to network informally as well as to participate in the formal sessions.

Who should attend:

  • CIOs
  • Enterprise architects
  • Designers of semantic products

We look forward to seeing you in Houston!
