Presentation
The Need for Semantic Interoperability
The concept of "Semantics" is highly contextual and dealing with these numerous contexts is the greatest challenge of "Semantic Interoperability.  Lockheed Martin as one of the world's largest Aerospace companies deals in almost all contexts of business, government, and society.  Because of this Lockheed Martin perceives a great need to overcome this challenge. This presentation provides a statement of a perceived need for "Semantic Interoperability" from the presenter's perspective as "Principal System Architect" for the Lockheed Martin EIS Chief Technology Office. The context is the Lockheed Martin Corporation and the Aerospace industry but this is not an "official" position of either.  Solutions do not appear to be rapidly forthcoming and the players in the game seem not to be converging towards a common goal.
