Presentation
National Information Exchange Model (NIEM)
On February 28, 2005, the Department of Homeland Security and the Department of Justice announced a new joint initiative: the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM). NIEM will provide a unified strategy, partnerships, and technical implementations enabling cross-domain information sharing at the federal, state, and local levels. This presentation describes the NIEM Program, processes, and products and services in the context of related information management and sharing technologies and standards, and demonstrates how NIEM can be extended and applied to support interagency data access and exchange. The presentation will cover current NIEM development activities and major milestones, and include information on how potential NIEM stakeholders can get involved and contribute to the initial NIEM development.
