Presentation
Increasing The Scalability & Capability Of An Enterprise Architecture Group Using Federated Networks, Virtual Teams And COEs. The EA function is now a top CxO priority, tasked with finding ways to reduce cost and complexity while increasing business-IT alignment. Architecture leaders must strive for effectiveness in EA planning and governance despite their owning only a small number of the resources they will need to fulfill their charter. To overcome this key challenge impeding EA success, organizations are finding new ways to address the sheer large number of generalist and specialist practitioners needed to do EA.
The largely obsolete self-sufficient central EA group approach is giving way to hybrid models which include federated networks and virtual teams augmented by Centers of Excellence (COEs). These models provide organizations greater scalability and capability to address the large volume of diverse and complex architecture needs, but they come at a price. To make sure the right people are working on the right projects at the right time, requires an integrated capability to manage demand, project portfolios, resources and financial's and a robust collaboration & communication environment.
