Project Manager and Architect: working together to create a shared vision
Practicing architects frequently complain that during the architecture deployment phase, the project managers and architects are not on the same page. This is partially due to the fact that the performance of these roles is measured by different  yard sticks. The project manager is evaluated by an "on-time" and "on- budget" indicator set while the architect is evaluated on the effectiveness of the solution - by the business value of the IT investment.

In this presentation, I will draw from our previous TOGAF-based architecture deployment assignments to address issues such as the:

  • Enterprise Architecture and Project Management Life Cycle
  • Leadership of Architecture Deployment Team
  • Role and Responsibilities of Project Director, Project Manager and the Architect in RACI terminology
  • Points of Contention and Mitigation Strategies
  • Litmus Test for a Shared Vision
