Understanding Policy Management for Successful SOA Governance
Industry pundits and vendors have preached the critical need for governance processes to SOA architects for some time. Yet the requirements for successful SOA governance consistently focus on the registry/repository. Experts have now defined the need for SOA Policy Management as a separate, yet essential component for ensuring control and quality throughout the entire service lifecycle. To deliver on your business objectives, SOA architects must understand what polices are needed for the various aspects of your SOA (design documents, processes, architecture, technologies, people, operations, etc.) and how they can be applied. In this session, attendees will learn how to apply a successful SOA policy management strategy across their organization, including:

  • Policy Definition types of policies, standards and best practices needed at various stages in the lifecycle for development, IT and business
  • Policy Enforcement how, where and when to enforce policy and maintain compliance
  • Policy Adoption ways to encourage policy adoption by all SOA constituents to improve development processes and share SOA expertise
  • Policy Change Management how to prevent business and service impact by analyzing the potential effects of changes to policies.

Audience:- SOA Architects, IT Executives, Business Analysts, CIOs

Key takeaways:-

  1. Types of policies, standards and best practices needed at various stages in the service lifecycle
  2. How, where and when to enforce policy and maintain SOA compliance
  3. Ways to encourage policy adoption by all SOA constituents
