A Comparison of IT Architecture Roles and Disciplines in the Development of Modern Solutions
Building or maintaining a business that can win within highly competitive and dynamic market requires companies to improve the alignment between business and IT, enhance flexibility and agility of their core business functions and processes. In order to achieve these goals organizations are leveraging the new and emerging principles in building IT solutions in order to componentize and evolve their IT infrastructure, systems and applications. The componentization of enterprise systems, applications and solutions leads to these systems becoming more and more technologically complex with ever-increasing number of functional points, data flows and components that comprise a modern IT Solution. Thus, the role of the solution architect becomes critical during the plan, design, development and implementation phases of these solutions.

This presentation will define, compare and contrast the responsibilities of a Solution Architect to responsibilities and roles of various other IT Architecture disciplines that are typically engaged during various phases of the solution life cycle. The speaker will highlight most important aspects of the Solution Architect role leveraging the examples of actual large scale Solutions and Projects.
