Presentation
Using Enterprise Architecture as a Strategic Financial Control Model

To realize the benefits of a strategic architectural concept like SOA, adequate financial IT architecture management is required. Based on TOGAF 8.1 EE, Detecon developed a controlling model for modular IT architectures. The presentation shows how this new approach solves current key-challenges of IT decision-makers.

The transparency created through the Enterprise Architecture model should also be used for financial controlling. Architecture objects have to be completed with information on costs and revenues. This allows for differentiated decisions on resource usage in the IT domain (efficiency of IT provision) and about IT usage in business units (efficiency of IT usage). Costing and pricing of business services enables activity-based costing for business processes. A market-oriented view quantifies business value contribution of IT.
