Effective SOA Governance
SOA is a business focused approach to IT and enterprise architecture.  Solutions based on SOA can draw on multiple sources of functionality, both from within and beyond an enterprise.  The experience of many organizations is that an effective governance regime is a critical element in a successful SOA program.   It is often the enterprise architecture team and other senior leaders of an IT organization that provide oversight and guidance to an SOA effort and it's governance.   This session will introduce the key issues in SOA Governance and relate those to the work of the enterprise architect.   The session will also include an update on the work that of the SOA Governance team within The Open Group's SOA Working Group.

Web Service Standards Overview

Adherence to interoperability standards have become an accepted part of defining an effective enterprise architecture. Web services specifications complement the delivery of SOA solutions by providing a standard means of satisfying many functional requirements of a solution, such as the security and reliability of the messaging between the components of a solution. This session will provide an overview of Web service specifications that can be used together to solve particular integration challenges facing an enterprise architect. Emerging profiles of Web service specifications which provide best practices aimed at particular integration challenges will also be discussed as part of this session.
