Presentation
Using Enterprise Architecture in the Defence Industry
Armscor developed an enterprise architecture in 2005 to provide a technical foundation for an effective IT strategy, which in turn, is at the core of any successful modern business strategy. Enterprise architecture addresses this need by providing a strategic context for the evolution of the IT systems in response to the constantly changing needs of the business environment. In 2006 the Management Board approved a project to define the user requirements for replacing the total application portfolio using the enterprise architecture capability. This project was successfully concluded within six months defining the user requirements using the EA capability with the functionality to generate a standard user requirement specification from the EA repository. The approach to this unique capability and additional benefits derived from this will be presented in this paper.
