Presentation
Service-Oriented Infrastructure

Service Orientation is beneficial across the IT Board. The focus in the IT Industry has been on Application Architecture. However, applying principles of Service Orientation to IT Infrastructure will deliver value in it's own right. The initial drivers for Service Oriented Infrastructure will be to increase the quality of the services and to decrease the costs of running them. Looking at possible strategies building on a Service Oriented Infrastructure we will see that a closer link across the life Cycle of IT Services will bring Utility Computing onto the radar screen. The benefits from reusing commodity services will drive a new wave of innovative information services.

Key takeaways from the presentation will be:

  • Key characteristics and components of a Service Oriented Infrastructure
  • No SOA without an SOI
  • Service Orientation and the impact on the wider IT Strategy
