Energy to the Edge -
SOA for the Energy Industry
The Energy industry has
a vast array of applications and solutions that span multiple
platforms and systems. Building Knowledge Management systems
for the field such as Incidence Management Systems, is an
interesting challenge for this industry.
This session discusses
a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) framework, and its
practical use as a foundation to build such a Knowledge
Management system, allowing dynamic incidence capture, workflow
tracking, routing and resolution on a common SOA framework.
Business Intelligence can be gathered from disparate heterogeneous
data sources including ERP systems, Operational Data Stores,
Legacy Systems, and LDAP repositories, all using independent
business services. The strengths of SOA are derived from
a loosely coupled framework which allows for business process
and service integration along with information domain abstraction.
This session describes the vision, the approach, key features,
and the challenges faced in building such a system. It
also discusses the framework and multi-tier enterprise
architecture that enable seamless collaboration with multiple
back-end systems.
