Goals of the ASCI DCE Project

• Create a common security infrastructure which will:

  • request a user’s password once to validate his/her home identity
  • honor a user’s home identity at all ASCI sites
  • use that identity to control access to computers and data at all ASCI sites
  • encrypt communications, end to end

• Remove laboratory boundaries as a barrier to computing on distributed, unique resources
