Meeting Report - Review of Volume 4 of SLA Handbook

Objective of Meeting

The Objective of this Second Session is to: Review the work that has been done by David Banes and the QoS Task Force in writing the Draft version of Volume 4 of the SLA Handbook. That volume focuses on Enterprise Requirements for SLAs and how they translate to Service Provider parameters. The Draft should be reviewed beforehand so that the session can be a true review of the work thus far. There will be copies of the draft available at the conference, but members are encouraged to review prior to the meeting.

Summary

David Banes gave a presentation which described the place of Volume 4 within the other parts of the Handbook.

There was discussion about the validity of subjective measures, such as customer satisfaction, and it was agreed that the message of the document was OK but that use of subjective measures should be downplayed.

It was agreed that the chart on page 56 is too small and should be made larger.

It was agreed that the 'Executive Summary' should be renamed 'introduction to Volume 4'.

There was discussion about the dates by which the TMF needed the document, and this needs to be clarified.  David felt that this document was closer to completion than the other volumes.

It was agreed that there should be a definition of an enterprise.  There is a description at the start of chapter 3.  Sally has a proposal for a new definition which is going to be circulated for comment.
