Rares Pateanu
Rares Pateanu oversaw the enterprise architecture aspects of one of the largest overhauls of technology in the communications sector. A seasoned professional, he has been involved in the Information Technology industry for over 30 years, in R&D, system software development, applications development, security, customer service, management and marketing.
He began his career working on Digital's PDP and VAX systems and writing special purpose operating systems on Intel processors. Next, Rares spent almost a decade of his career at IBM where he held several development, management and marketing positions in the AS/400 area of the Toronto Laboratory. This included RPG Development Manager and AS/400 World-Wide Application Development Market Manager.
After a few years in the world of small Internet ventures, in 2001 Rares became Technology Head for Cash Management Services in the Corporate Technology Development organization at the Bank of Montreal in Toronto. In 2007 Rares joined CGI, a leading IT solutions and consulting services organization in North America, as Vice President, Architecture & Quality and built up these practice areas from scratch. He landed at Rogers Telecommunications in early 2010, and is a TOGAF® 9 Certified Architect.
In addition to his career accomplishments, Rares:
* Has been involved with COMMON, one of the largest IBM user groups in the world, for 15 years. In 1998 he was elected to serve on the Board of Directors, and served as the Executive Vice-President of COMMON until 2004.
*Has taught a variety of Computer Science courses at York University in Toronto for over 20 years
* Has being a frequent speaker at computer science conferences all over the world
* Has authored many articles about various data processing technologies for leading computer industry publications.
