Electronic Government in Korea

Against a background of major projects to build a Korean information infrastructure and a national information superhighway, the Ministries of Information and Communication and Government Administration and Home Affairs and the National Computerization Agency are creating a framework for "Electronic Government". This involves widespread use of electronic documents and includes a set of related standards, regulations, and management procedures.

Dr Sunwoo is responsible for standards for Electronic Government at the NCA, Korea's key IT and communications agency. He will present some of the key issues that are being addressed in the project and discuss some of the requirements that must be met. Dr Sunwoo will also talk about the issues affecting user adoption and touch on aspects that are particular to the region. He will make a few suggestions as to how industry can support this kind of major project and talk about the need for international collaboration and standardization.
