Director of 3G Mobile Services, Manx Telecom
Following graduation with BSc Hons from Salford University in Electronic
Communications Mark had a responsibility for British Telecommunications
Sales Engineering in the north of the UK and had specific responsibility
for the design and implementation of the UK's first Virtual Private Network
Service for a High Street UK bank.
In
1995 Mark became a BT Europe Business Development Manager and was responsible
for obtaining a number of major Italian contracts. During this period
he worked upon the creation of BTs Joint Venture company, Albacom, and
subsequently became responsible for the international sales, services
deployment and contract management based in Milan.
In 1998, Mark was appointed the Alliance Director for BTs subsidiary
companies in Belgium and the Isle of Man whilst also studying for an MBA
at Henley Management College.
In January 2000 Mark transferred full time to work with Manx Telecom
and holds the position of Director of 3G Mobile Services for Manx Telecom.
He successfully launched Europe’s first 3rd Generation Mobile network
in December 2001.
He is a member of the Manx Telecom operations board.
Mark is 39 and is married with 2 young children.
mmO2
mmO2 has 100% ownership of mobile network operators in four countries
- the UK, Germany, the Netherlands and Ireland - as well as a leading
mobile internet portal business. All of these businesses have now been
re-branded as O2. Additionally, the company has operations on the Isle
of Man (Manx Telecom).
mmO2 was the first company in the world to launch and rollout a commercial
GPRS (or 2.5G) network and has secured third generation mobile telephony
(“3G”) licences in the UK, the Netherlands, Germanyand Ireland.
mmO2 has approximately 17.5 million customers and some 14,000 employees,
with revenues for the year ended 31 March 2002 of £4.276 million.
Data represented 13.4% of total service revenues in the quarter ending
31 March 2002.
