Integrating IT for the Mature Enterprise: The Job of DCE
Some vendors integrate technology; DCE Integrates Vendors

Eliot Solomon,
Securities Industry Middleware Council (SIMC)
and Securities Industry Automation Corporation (SIAC)

Businesses need to be able to use technology to differentiate themselves from their competitors. This may mean using different technologies than the competition, or using the same technology differently. Firms also need to stage the deployment of technology as part of a comprehensive corporate strategy of asset allocation. These requirements demand that organizations with maturing IT infrastructures be able to use multiple technologies provided by multiple vendors.

In this presentation, Eliot Solomon will speak on the market forces that favor and disfavor multi-vendor technologies. He will address the forces of mass markets and niche markets, and the ways in which specific technologies or technology vendors become dominant. DCE is presented as a "deep infrastructure" technology that allows IT users to construct  their own integrating frameworks to allow them to deploy "best of class" middleware and application architectures in a vendor-neutral, evolutionary manner.
