Miami Conference IntranetOne of the Top Ten Improvement Points expressed by members earlier this year was for electronic access to presentations and conference networking during member conferences. We are pleased to announce a step toward meeting this objective with the availability of a Conference Intranet for the Miami conference.
This is only accessible to attendees at the conference.
Plan to bring your laptop to gain access to plenary and program group presentations as well as other information on the member conference and The Open Group. The Miami plenary session and program groups will be networked. A limited number of connections will be available at designated tables. This network will also allow you to access certain exhibitor demonstrations.
Access requirements:
- Web browser
- Ethernet capable laptop
- Media converter from a RJ-45/UTP connection to 10B2 (if you require thinnet for Ethernet connection)
- DHCP support, DHCP must be enabled for your network adapter (for PCs)
Provided by The Open Group:
- RJ-45 (unshielded twisted pair) connections
- DNS servers, routers, WINS servers and other network parameters
- Downloadable PC DCE and DFS clients
To Load materials or Edit collaborative materials on the Intranet use:
- DFS
- FTP
- Front Page 97/98
Detailed instructions and assistance will be provided on site.
The Open Group will provide a post conference executive summary during the week after the conference. This network, however, will allow you to gain faster access to the presentations and might also be helpful for your collaborative work while in Miami. In addition, if you are presenting during the Miami conference please be sure to load your presentation onto the Intranet.
We hope this Conference Intranet will be of value to you. We invite and encourage your comments and improvement points as you make use of this network. Please address any questions to meetings@opengroup.org.
