Miguel Garcia is vice president of software development and application services for CNN Interactive, CNN's primary provider of digital content. The department's products include six CNN Web sites: CNN.com, AllPolitics.com, CNNenEspanol.com, CNNemPortugues.com, CNN CustomNews and Svenska CNN; as well as CNN's news channels on PointCast, AirMedia, PageNet pagers and Lexis-Nexis. He oversees the development and integration of software, tools and infrastructure for all phases of content production, from information gathering to its final distribution. In addition, he is responsible for CNNSI.com's software development.

Formerly the director of software development, Garcia managed the technical side of the development of key sites and products, including: the 1996 US Election Results; the 1996 Olympic Games; the launch of CNNSI.com in July 1997; QuickNews email; the European mirrors of CNN.com and CNNfn.com; the growth of community on CNN.com; and CNN's news channels for PointCast, Microsoft IE 4 and SNAP; CNNenEspanol.com; as well as a number of internal newsroom production processes.

Garcia joined CNN Interactive in April 1996. Before joining CNN, he was vice president of Object Orientated Technology at Openware Technologies in Atlanta.

He is a native of Barranquilla, Colombia, and holds a master's in Computer Science from the State University of New York at Stonybrook and a bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering from Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia.
