Application vendors including Compaq, Digital, Hewlett-Packard, Gradient Technologies, DASCOM, IBM, Inprise, Motorola, Transarc and others will be demonstrating distributed computing and object component technologies such as DCE/CORBA interoperability, Object Request Brokers, Java, DCE and DCE/Java integration. Demos will highlight the interoperability and coexistence of these various technologies.

Several DCE vendors will be demonstrating DCE solutions for Mission and Business-critical enterprise computing. These demos will highlight DCE's role as an embracing framework for integrating heterogenous solutions to the problems of Distributed Computing. In addition, the vendors will demonstrate "classic" models of DCE multi-vendor interoperability by showing different vendor DCE implementations interoperating in the same DCE cell.

The Demonstration area will be open Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning. Demos will be available whenever meeting sessions are not in progress, i.e. during breakfast, lunch, breaks between sessions and the evening reception on Monday.

Please check back for details on individual demos. This page will be updated as new information becomes available.

COMPAQ

  1. Digital DCE Toolkit
  2. DIGITAL's DCE Toolkit providing a collection of PROVEN tools and documentation to accelerate development of robust DCE-based distributed business applications. The DCE Toolkit has been developed over many years of DCE consulting and application implementations. Making DCE easier to use is the primary design goal for the DCE Toolkit.

  3. Call Center Demonstration
  4. The Call Center Demonstration highlights using DCE and the DIGITAL DCE Toolkit from a security, high availability, and application management perspective. While not shown on floor, the demonstration as well as the DCE Toolkit, shows industry leading NT/UNIX integration that demonstrates portability and interoperability.

DASCOM

  1. IntraVerse
  2. IntraVerse is a complete authorization solution for corporate Web, client/server, and legacy applications, with support for both public key authentication and DCE lightweight client authentication with NetSEAT. Through centralized management of Web resources and applications, IntraVerse provides single sign-on capabilities for the corporate Web space. IntraVerse provides end-to-end security for legacy applications over geographically dispersed Intranets. IntraVerse is the only solution to provide security to any tier in multi-tiered applications. Its authorization API allows all developers to take advantage of IntraVerse authorization.

  3. DCE Cell Manager
  4. DCE Cell Manager is the de facto standard suite of tools for simplifying DCE management. DCE Cell Manager provides centralized management of distributed networks by spanning the various DCE administrative facilities and combining their functionality into a single coordinated tool set. DCE Cell Manager's graphical user interface allows administrators to analyze the state of local or remote DCE cells and respond appropriately. This graphical interface allows administrators to view available data and perform functions without having to know specific DCE syntax on multiple platforms.

  5. IntraVerse and PKI Integration
  6. IntraVerse integrates with PKI to provide an authorization framework for public key authentication. The architecture is based on a union of X.509 and DCE technologies. The method for joining the two technologies lies in the use of Cyrptographic Message Syntax, which establilshed the identity of the user if the user is capabile of signing e-mail.

GRADIENT

  1. NetCrusader Trading Demo
  2. Gradient’s Wall Street Trading Demo was developed to present a real-life example of Web-based security in a robust, real-time environment. The Web-based trading application was developed using NetDynamics; uses Entrust Public-Key Infrastructure for authorization and encryption; uses smart cards for digital storage of public-key certificates; and uses NetCrusader cards for authorization and management of users, groups, and access privileges.

  3. PKI/DCE

Gradient will also demonstrate its integration of Public-Key Infrastructure (PKI) with PC-DCE middleware for the high-volume desktop. A draft specification for PKI/DCE integration was announced in June, the result of a joint effort between Gradient, the Securities Industry Middleware Council, The Open Group, and other technology vendors.

HEWLETT-PACKARD

HP Domain Commerce Web Quality of Service

With Web QoS (Quality of Service), HP Domain Commerce lets you impose rational business policies and dictate which customers or transactions will receive priority attention. Web QoS lets you treat customers and transactions with the sort of common sense any conventional business would. With HP Domain Commerce, your company can provide predictible service levels and build enduring customer relationships.

IBM

Component Broker

Component Broker, IBM's strategic CORBA platform, is a complete solutionfor customers needing to connect multiple backend systems to dynamic, new applications. It offers tools to build next generation applications, an object runtime to provide a rich set of services and connection capabilities and systems management to ensure efficient and effective control of the environment.

INPRISE Corporation

CORBA-to-Entera Gateway

The new CORBA-to-Entera Gateway from Inprise provides seamless and secure integration between Entera/DCE applications running on Unix, MVS and Windows NT platforms and CORBA applications. The Gateway is a fully IIOP compliant interworking solution. It allows CORBA applications to transparently access enterprise data and corporate servers running in an Entera DCE environment.

MOTOROLA

CipherNETŪ Software Developer’s Kit

The Motorola CipherNETŪ Software Developer’s Kit (SDK) accelerates the integration of security features into E-Business and E-Commerce applications. The standards-based SDK provides application builders with a robust array of security functions to meet the challenges of doing business on public networks. The CipherNET SDK allows developers to secure their point-to-point and store-and-forward applications by providing data encryption services, digital signatures, and certificate management. In addition, the CipherNET SDK’s open architecture makes it easy to address future security advances in the market place.

TRANSARC

DFS Server for Windows NT

A powerful mechanism for data management, the DFS Server for Windows NT lets users share files securely with Windows NT environments and between UNIX, Windows NT, and OS/390 environments for greater performance, availability and security.
