Architecture Framework Program Group

Further information on the program group

Draft agenda

Overview

At the Miami meeting the TOGAF Program will hold the first of a series of formal Briefings on the TOGAF ADM. These Briefings are intended primarily for those unfamiliar with TOGAF, but regular TOGAF Program members should also find this a useful opportunity to explore the details of the ADM, and the relevance of Requirements. The ADM Briefings will be given by members of the TOGAF Program Group Executive, and will be held on Wednesday morning.

The remainder of the Program Group agenda will be allocated to working sessions on the 1998 deliverables.

On Wednesday afternoon the group will work on drafting a business scenario relevant to the IT DialTone Architecture, within a specific vertical sector, using the Requirements principles explained in the morning Briefing.

On Thursday the group will spend the whole day working on the integration of the Architecture Continuum concept into TOGAF.

The ADM Briefing

This first Briefing will focus on the early phases of the ADM: in particular, on the role of Requirements in the architecture process. It will comprise two sessions.

The opening session will first set the context by explaining the background to TOGAF, its relationship to the IT DialTone Architecture, and the concept of the Architecture Continuum. It will then explain the concepts of Requirements and Business Scenarios and their relevance to the architecture development process.

The second session will build on the first by exploring in detail a specific example of a business scenario. It will finally review the later phases of the ADM, focussing on the continuing relevance of requirements throughout the architecture life-cycle.

At the end of the Briefing time will be set aside for discussion.
