| 0915 | Working together for Enterprise Integration |
Allen Brown |
| 0930 | The Global
Galactic Collision of Standards The accelerating convergence between the Information Technology, Telecommunications and Wireless industries brings with it a collision of standards activities on a scale never before envisioned. For mobile computing, the Internet standards are being used as the basis of standards activities everywhere but they are being adapted to the needs of the wireless world and adapted differently in each of the major economic regions, giving rise to major concerns for fragmentation. Issues of security, quality of service, privacy, and directory management are some of the issues that will be addressed as attendees learn of the challenges of being part of an enterprise IS environment when outside the corporate firewall and of some of the approaches being used. |

| 1550 | The Path
towards UMTS Technologies for the Information Society As the Information Society moves into the next millenium, users of data and multimedia telecommunications services will expect and demand that these same services will continue to be available to them when they are on the move. Multimedia services allow the delivery of a rich variety of audio, video, and text-based information in addition to basic voice. New enabling technologies such as GPRS and UMTS will pave the way for new services, applications, and new business opportunities. |
