Management Program Group |
Objective: Continue to
investigate the relevant developments in the Systems Management arena and drive customers'
infrastrcuture requirements into the IT DialTone architecture. A sub-group of the Program Group has recently submitted a great deal of input to the IT DialTone Architecture. The progress of that work will be reviewed and any necessary actions identified. In a more in-depth session there will be further discussion on the findings relating to Service Level Management. This will attempt to reach conclusions as to what the appropriate Open Group action could be in this area. The Applications Response Measurement (ARM) API is a recent initiative of high potential interest to application developers and customers alike. ARM has been identified as an important component of the management of the IT DialTone. Progress on this will be reviewed and actions considered. There will be an update on the Common Information Model (CIM) emerging from the Desktop Management Taskforce (DMTF). As one of the key management foundations for the IT DialTone the group will continue to track this activity and work actively with the DMTF to further the development od this important technology. The emergence of Java is having a major impact on the world of management. One session of the group will focus on this topic. It is hoped to arrange several presentations from developers exploring the implications of this trend and looking ahead to a java-enabled management future. In addition the group will review its charter and forward plan for 1998 activities. |
