Randy Perry
Director of Communications Consulting
International Data CorporationAs Director of Communications Consulting, Randy Perry is responsible for managing custom studies, assisting clients in evaluating opportunities in the worldwide data networking and telecommunications markets, and developing market and business strategies.
Mr. Perry has more than nine years of experience in market research and strategic planning in the high-technology industry with a special focus in networking, communications, electronic security, and emerging technologies. He has spoken at industry seminars and has been published in trade publications in the United States and France. Some of the projects he has recently directed include the following:
- Evaluated opportunities in a wide range of Internet software and hardware markets for a large multinational vendor to identify which products and segments offered the best opportunity based on demand; the client’s business objectives; capabilities; strengths and weaknesses; and the competitive environment
- Built a worldwide opportunity model for a software vendor to map out regional market and channel strategies and to establish global benchmarks
- Conducted a customer-value analysis to assist a leading network software vendor in creating an integrated product development/marketing strategy
- Evaluated demand for ATM-enabled applications and services in the home market to assist the ATM Forum in developing product and service specifications and standards
- Written white papers to promote key networking software technologies
Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Perry was a senior consultant for JSA International, a strategic consulting firm where he managed market research, strategic consulting, and mergers and acquisition projects for commercial aerospace, defense, and security clients.
Mr. Perry holds a B.S. in engineering from West Point.
