Donald A. (Andy) Purdy, Jr.
Deputy to the Vice Chair, Senior Advisor, IT Security and Privacy, The
President's Critical Infrastructure Protection Board
Mr. Purdy is the Deputy to the Vice Chair and Senior Advisor, IT Security
& Privacy, for the President’s Critical Infrastructure Protection
Board in the White House.
Like most of the staff, Andy is “dual-hatted,” serving on
assignment to the White House staff from the U.S. Sentencing Commission
where he has served as Chief Deputy General Counsel since 1989. At the
PCIPB Andy is working in the areas of cyber crime, privacy protection,
government procurement of secure IT, government incident sharing and analysis,
and developing a certification system for IT professionals.
Mr. Purdy was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia, Special Counsel
to the House Ethics Committee, Counsel to the Senate Impeachment Trial
Committee, and Assistant Attorney General in Missouri. Mr. Purdy also
worked as Senior Staff Counsel to the House Select Committee on Assassinations'
investigation of the assassination of President Kennedy, concentrating
on the medical evidence as to the number and direction of the shots, and
whether Jack Ruby was involved in a conspiracy.
Immediately prior to joining the Sentencing Commission Mr. Purdy was
an Associate Producer for the NBC News magazines FIRST CAMERA and MONITOR,
and the Producer for News and Politics for the CBS News broadcast NIGHTWATCH.
Mr. Purdy is a graduate of the College of William and Mary and the University
of Virginia Law School.
