Emily
Q. Freeman is Vice President-Western Region and Executive Director of
Consulting for AIG eBusiness Risk Solutions. She has been a principal
drafter of cyberspace insurance products and senior consultant for e-business
risk management. She participates as the lead facilitator for risk analysis
workshops for major corporations with infrastructure and commerce applications
utilizing computer networks and the Internet.
Previously, she was the e-business practice leader for Marsh Inc., a
leading global insurance broker and risk consultant firm. Ms. Freeman
led the e-business practice at Marsh from its inception in 1998, when
Marsh merged with Sedgwick. Prior to 1998, she was a member of the executive
committee of the Sedgwick Technology Group and became Sedgwick’s
Regional Broking Director for the Pacific Northwest. She was responsible
for large insurance and risk management programs, and served as a technical
advisor on coverage and underwriting matters.
Ms. Freeman began her career with Industrial Indemnity, a unit of Crum
& Forster Group, in San Francisco as a casualty underwriter. She later
became Senior Director-Home Office Casualty Underwriting and developed
target market programs sold throughout the company’s branch network.
A graduate of the University of California, Ms. Freeman also was a Distinguished
Graduate of the Associate Underwriting Program of IIA. She holds the Associate
in Risk Management (ARM) and Associate in Underwriting (AU) professional
designations.
Ms. Freeman has been a frequent speaker on e-business, intellectual property,
and other related risk and insurance issues. She has authored articles
on e-business risk management for a number of business and finance publications,
including Washington CEO, Financial Executive, Risk Management, Riskvue.com,
and The John Liner Review. She is currently authoring a chapter for a
new book on Cyber Security and Cyber Terrorism, and completing a major
article on Personal Identity Theft for John Liner Review.
Ms. Freeman has been an expert guest on CNN's World News and National
Public Radio's All Things Considered, and has been interviewed on matters
relating to the identification and management of e-business risk by The
New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, American Banker, Fortune, The
Associated Press, Bloomberg Business News, CFO, Infoweek, Wired, Treasury
& Risk Management, Business Insurance, National Underwriter, Risk
& Insurance, Washington Post, and numerous other leading business/financial,
technology and general news media outlets.
