"Candy" Frances Alexander, CISSP
Vice President, International Relations, Information Systems Security Association (ISSA)

Candy Alexander joined the ISSA International Board of Directors in June 2002 as the Vice President of International Relations. In this role, she is responsible for exploring and implementing plans to increase ISSA’s presence worldwide. Ms. Alexander also represents the ISSA to the Human Firewall Council.

Prior to joining ISSA’s International Board of Directors, Ms. Alexander was the local chapter president for the ISSA New England chapter. Her work in the ISSA has been recognized when she was awarded “Security Professional of the Year – 2000”. Recently, Ms. Alexander has received two additional honors from the ISSA. She has been placed on the ISSA’s Honor Roll for sustained meritorious conduct and contribution for the advancement of the association and profession. While during her tenure as Chapter President for the New England ISSA, the chapter has been awarded “Outstanding Chapter of the Year”.

Ms. Alexander has demonstrated her leadership in reaction to the terrorist events of September 11, 2001 when she worked with her local ISSA chapter to bring together all of the “Protection Organizations” of New England together for a joint meeting to discuss and determine how best to work together to reduce terrorist threats. It was the first time that the four organizations (American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS), High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA), InfraGard and ISSA) had meet together. Ms. Alexander continues her work in this area by participating in the Massachusetts Anti-Terrorism Task Force Public/Private Partnerships Subgroup.

Ms. Alexander joined Symantec in August 2001 specifically to design an extensive Security Awareness Program that would provide optimum value for Symantec customers. Ms. Alexander has 14 years of Information Security experience and has received numerous awards for outstanding contribution to the profession.

Ms. Alexander started her Information Security career at Digital Equipment Corporation and during her 18 year tenure was responsible various security functions such as; designing and delivery of security tool training, Data Center Security Manager, writing of Corporate Security Policies and Standards, assisting in investigations, Regional Security Compliance Manager, vulnerability assessment and management, World Wide Service Network (“DMZ”) Security Manager and World Wide Security Awareness Program Manager. Ms. Alexander obtained the CISSP designation in 1997.
