Application Performance Analysis to Enable In3

Optimizing the performance of mission critical and priority business applications is essential to successfully deliver a mix of applications in an Integrated Information Infrastructure. Performance Mapping is a unique profiling and modeling process to determine the key parameters that govern task response time from the user's perspective. The technique focuses on application-network interactions that are fundamental to network-based applications. The presentation will use examples and historic trends from three major Web performance studies completed in 1995, 1999 and 2001 and from a wide range of commercial and government applications. Visions that expect the Internet to become a global integrated information platform need a reality check against these metrics. These performance parameters must be managed across complex private/public boundaries of networking and computing in order to create an Integrated Information Infrastructure.
