Security Forum
The Open Group Conference in Anaheim departs from our usual format,
in that we will showcase our contribution to the Integrated Information
Infrastructure (In3). Our agenda for the week is therefore organized
with more open sessions than usual. However these sessions will give
valuable insights into the whole picture of what In3 means, and our
contributions towards achieving its goals. |
Plenary - Monday 21 Jan & Tuesday 22 Jan:
The conference theme - Integrated Information Infrastructure (In3).
2002 will bring together some of the key visionaries in the open systems,
standards and certification worlds and will seek to push forward the boundaries
of business information provision, to achieve critical advantage through
integration.
Access to integrated information through integrated information infrastructures
is the stated need of CIOs who are under pressure to justify what they
are doing, to do a better job of providing information in ways that support
the changing needs of business, and to keep within tighter budgets.
Security Forum members will want to take advantage of this refresher
from indusry luminaries on what is involved:
- The Vision - The vision of the Integrated Information
Enterprise and the business value to be gained from it's achievement
- Achieving the Vision
- Understanding the need / facilitating the solution
- Case studies / business scenarios
- In3 In Practice - Activities within The Open Group
in support of In3

Identity Management Open Day - Wed 23 Jan:
In collaboration with The Open Group's Directory Interoperability
Forum (DIF), EMA Forum, and Mobile Management Forum, we present Identity
Management: Building an Integrated Information Infrastructure
Having heard in Days 1 & 2 about the In3 vision,
how to achieve it, and what we are currently doing about it, this Identity
Management Day 3 is dedicated to examining the role of Identity Management
in creating an Integrated Information Infrastructure It includes sessions
with end-users presenting their needs, vendors presenting their proposed
solutions, and The Open Group presenting the key business drivers that
have been identified through business scenario analysis. In the closing
session, attendees will be invited to reflect on what weve heard
and add to it.
Identity Management clearly
relates strongly to infirmation security, so we have much to contribute
and learn from listening to customers and key vendors (Microsoft on Passport,
and the Liberty Alliance) about this topic, and we expect to also connect
with professionals from the leading vendor and end-user organizations
involved in this subject area.
Topics that will be covered:
- Building
identity management into an integrated information infrastructure
- Requirements:
- Identity
Management in Healthcare
- Identity
Management for the General Public
- Managing
Suppliers' Identities
- Identity
Management in a Mobile Environment
- Role-Based
Authorization and Access Control
- Possible
solutions and how far they go:
- Microsofts
Passport - one name, one password
- Liberty
Alliance - single sign-on for all, in an open, federated way
