Directory Interoperability Forum
The main conference theme of eFlow is highly relevant to Directory, because most eFlow applications will be Directory-enabled.
There will be product demonstrations of some of these applications, and a public session hosted by the DIF on the relationship of Directory to eFlow. In addition, the DIF will hold a DirConnect interoperability testing event and a regular DIF members' meeting. (These are for DIF members and invited guests only.)
Directory and eFlow (Open Session on Tuesday 6 February)
An important aspect of eFlow is the identification and location of the people and other resources that participate in and support the flow of information. Directory - whether accessed through LDAP or in other forms - plays a key role.
This session will complement and extend the
plenary eFlow discussions. Attendees will gain insight into the potential
and value of Directories and
Directory Applications as components of eFlow implementations. It will be of
particular value to delegates from companies planning and delivering
eFlow solutions and the applications that support them.
Winston Bumpus, Director of Standards at Novell and chair of the Directory
Interoperability Forum will open the session with a keynote presentation on
Directory and eFlow. David Ehnebuske, IBM's architect for UDDI, will then
introduce the business and technical content of UDDI, an e-business registry
specification and set of interoperating implementations initially developed by
IBM, Microsoft, and Ariba, and now supported by well over 100 companies. Adrian
Viego, CTO of Business Layers, will talk about directory-enabled eProvisioning.
The session will conclude with general discussion of the role of Directory and
eFlow.
Forum Meetings (Closed Sessions on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday 6-8 February)
The DIF members' meeting will progress the work of the Certification, Security, Service Provider - Directory-Enabled Network Application (SP-DNA), and Standards Co-ordination working groups. The key overall objective for this meeting will be to map the main areas of Directory standardization and set priorities for the work most needed for Directory Interoperability.
