Michael Reilly is JP Morgan’s Chief Technology Officer with responsibility for the firm’s technology infrastructure strategy which includes services such as voice and data networks, mainframe, distributed computing, desktop, e-commerce, middleware and real time market data. Mike’s role as CTO has three areas of focus:

·        Creation and maintenance of a technology product strategy that ensures JPM wins in an increasingly electronic business world.

·        Maintenance of strategic relationships with key vendors, partners and industry standard bodies.

·        Creation of an environment where the skills of JPM’s internal network of technologists can be best used by the firm to help its clients win.

Mike is also responsible for the JP Morgan’s Corporate Architecture function, which includes creation and maintenance of the Business, Information and Technical blueprints for the business applications needed to operate a global financial services company.

Mike is a member of J.P. Morgan’s IT Board, the firm’s governing body for technology investments and is co-chair of the Engineering Board which sets and enforces global technology infrastructure standards. Externally, Mike is a member of the Research Board, the ATM Forum, the Open Group and numerous technology vendor advisory boards.  Mike was the business sponsor for the research work performed at JPM that led to the creation of the Open Group’s Application Instrumentation and Control (AIC) standard.

Prior to Mike’s appointment to CTO in early 1999, he was co-head of the JP Morgan Products and Services (P&S) organization. The P&S group plans, builds and operates the firm’s technology infrastructure in conjunction with a bench of external vendors. Mike has worked for J.P. Morgan for six years holding a number of positions including head of the firm’s global networking and Middleware development organizations.

Prior to joining Morgan, Mike was a technology consultant with Digital Equipment Corporation with responsibility for the design and implementation of network solutions for Digital’s financial services customers. Mike holds an honors degree in Electrical Engineering from Dublin City University, Ireland.
